Blacks and others of color have disproportionately suffered the highest casualties of this pandemic, and that fact should not be lost on any conversations regarding recognizing black history month. Blacks suffer more deaths and hospitalizations due to COVID-19, compared to the rest of the population. So, while as a Country we normally celebrate our nations most famous and recognized Black Americans, let us not forget the many blacks who have been lost or have suffered health disparities due to this cruel and deadly virus.
This black writer like many other blacks in this Country have witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of this pandemic on our families and communities. And I pray that as a nation we can give thanks to their lives, and do everything in our power to protect ourselves, our families, our communities, and the world in eradicating this awful disease.
Happy black history month! Stay well and be safe!
