Just this week President Trump is tweeting and making televised statements that “he wants schools to re-open this fall” regardless if they have met safe requirements per his own administration’s health professionals, and other leading scientists.
However, the President does not make the final decision of when a student returns to a brick and mortar building…that legal right is the one that a parent/guardian holds. In my humble opinion I believe a student is much better off if he/she loses a year of in person instruction…vs losing their life, or putting someone else’s life in danger… (seriously).
No one in the country can say how safe it is for students to return to school with any real certainty, and what is the rush to return to school if only weeks/months later the school has to shut down because of virus spread.
Los Angeles, San Diego, and other school districts across the state, and country have said that they will only offer online instruction starting in the fall. They said that science will be their gauge as to when to return to in-person instruction.
Now is a good time to review my earlier articles this year related to education and the coronavirus pandemic. Stay connected, talk to you next time!
