The National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) held it’s 49th Annual Conference at the LAX Marriott Hotel, November 10-14, 2021. The theme for this year’s conference is “REIMAGINING EDUCATION Focusing On Innovation, Equity, and Social Emotional Learning.” The sold out conference featured educators from around the country, and provided resources through workshops, panel discussions, speakers, exhibitors, a banquet, evening add-on events such as A Student Summit, A Parent Symposium, Golf Tournament, Higher Education Bus Tour, Aspiring Superintendents, Dinning With Divas, Men On A Mission; there was even a room set up for participants who wanted to donate blood.
NABSE is the nation’s premier non-profit organization devoted to furthering the academic success for the nation’s children – particularly children of African descent. NABSE boasts a distinguished group of educators including teachers, administrators, superintendents, paraprofessionals, corporate, institutional, parent and community members. NABSE members represent education stakeholders throughout the country.
This writer was honored to work with the local planning committee (Los Angeles County Alliance of Black School Educators…LACABSE) to support the Parent Symposium component of the conference, in addition to the five-day event. And big shout out to the Parent Commission Chair, Betty Maceo (Ohio) and her planning committee team who worked tirelessly towards a successful Symposium.
While NABSE’s focus is on black students, the conference attendees are diverse, because it takes a village to raise a child, and when you help the neediest of children, you help all children!
Congratulations to outgoing NABSE President, Dr. Michael McFarland, and in coming NABSE President, Dr. Nardos King for a wonderful and successful 49th Annual Conference. Special recognition to the general planning committee, sub-committees, registration, volunteers, Texas & Ohio Delegations, NABSE Affiliate’s, sponsors, hotel staff, and all supporters…You Rock!
The 50th NABSE Annual Conference will be held in Washington D.C…and yes “We Know Our Assignment.”
